Essential Workers Continue Contributions Amid Louisiana Shut Down

Mar 23, 2020

The Administration at Mike Hooks has been closely following the development and updates of COVID-19 and will continue to monitor the situation as it continues to develop.

Mike Hooks is headquartered in Westlake, Lousiana and the majority of our employees reside in the surrounding areas as well as states along the Gulf of Mexico. Recently, the State of Louisiana issued a Stay-at-Home Order for Louisiana residents but exempts employees involved in tasks such as “construction of critical or strategic infrastructure” as referenced in this Memo issued by the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA.gov).

As a Contractor tasked with maintaining waterways for organizations such as the Corps of Engineers, Mike Hooks employees are considered Essential Works and are exempt from the Stay-at-Home order issued by the State. In order to support these continued efforts, Mike Hooks will carry on with normal operational and hiring activities unless directed otherwise.

We continue to encourage employees to follow the CDC Guidelines for COVID-19 as prepared and distributed to all dredges by our Safety Team. Please do your best to observe these safe practices for the well-being of yourselves, your families, and your coworkers.
